Rail operations have been stopped on some of these, but there are still 37689 bridges, which are more than 100 years old.The number of such bridges is 37689, whereas the total number of total railway bridges is 1 lakh 47 thousand 523. That is, every third bridge is more than 100 years old.The committee said in the summary at the end of the report that when asked about the safety of old bridges, the Ministry replied that the safety of the bridge is taken care of,but we (the committee) suspect that the old bridges It is completely unsafe because in the last few years, the number of trains and speed has been increased and the weight of the train has increased,so it can be dangerous to run trains on these bridges.
